NEW "architage" Kids Scavenger Hunt / Photography Contest

For inquisitive sleuths from 5 to 17 years of age, prizes and 2008 exhibit.

Contest runs September 2 - October 14, 2007

This year, we’re inviting students from 5 to 17 years of age, as well as their schools,  to participate in our new “architage” Scavenger Hunt/Photography Contest.

How It Works:

  • There will be a total of 25 clues listed on the www.doorsopenniagara.com website from September 2 to October 14.  These clues relate to people or things that happened at 25 of the 90-plus sites that are part of 2007 Doors Open Niagara.
  • Participants must complete two steps to enter:  You need to submit the correct answers to 10 of these clues, clearly indicating the location the clue refers to, along with your best photos of three of these locations to prove that you actually visited these sites.

The contest runs from September 2 to October 14, 2007, and prizes will be awarded to winners who submit the correct location answers to the Scavenger Hunt clues, along with photos that identify those locations.

Age categories will be broken down as follows, with winners named in each category:

  • 5 to 8 years of age
  • 9 to 12 years of age
  • 13 to 17 years of age

Winners will have their photography exhibited along with the Art of Architecture winners at Burchfield-Penney Art Gallery in 2008.

There will be special awards for the top six elementary and secondary schools (3 Canadian and 3 U.S.) who enter the most student submissions.

Judging will take place by December 1, 2007 and winners will be notified by December 31, 2007.
